Washburn reliever Dalton Huggins is taking the MIAA by storm

Dalton Huggins is statistically the best pitcher in the MIAA at this moment.

With 16 baseball games played and 17 innings pitched, Washburn's Huggins is showing the world what he is capable of.

The southpaw is leading in eight different pitching categories in the MIAA.

  • Earned Run Average -- 0.52
  • OPP Batting Average -- .105
  • Losses -- 0
  • Hits Allowed -- 6
  • Runs Allowed -- 1
  • Earned Runs Allowed -- 1
  • Walks Allowed -- 1
  • Doubles Allowed -- 1
He is 1.19 lower on his ERA than the next closest pitcher, .52 lower on his OPP BA compared to the next man and has allowed three fewer runs than the next closest MIAA pitcher.

The Topeka native is also third in the MIAA in strikeouts (30) and ninth with batters striking out looking (7).

Huggins' February-March stretch in the 2021 campaign was also dominant. In the entire months of February and March, Huggins only gave up 7 hits and 6 runs.

While his numbers have improved this year, he has stayed consistent in his dominance.

Right now, Dalton Huggins is the No. 1 pitcher in the MIAA. It'll be interesting to see if the dominance can carry over through the rest of the season.
